The new movies?
This season's last episode of Battlestar Galactica was telecast last Sunday night. At the end, the fine folks from the Sci Fi Channel had the unmitigated gall to announce that the next season wouldn't begin until 2008. Is this the not-so-hidden cost of CGI--does it take so long to create a season's worth of computer-generated imagery that we now have to wait almost as long for a science fiction television series season as for another episode of Star Wars?

Sounds like the Sopranos - two years between seasons is the norm. Once they know they've got you hooked, they can get away with - so to speak - murder.
I think up until very recently they were up in the air as to whether there would even be a 4th season, so it sounds like they haven't been working on new episodes concurrently.
That being said, they probably need time to figure out where the show should go. They spent most of this season screwing around.
Yay, I found other BSG fans. I just started watching it. I don't get the Sci Fi channel but TikkunGer has season one and half of season two on DVD. A couple weeks back we started from the beginning, then we found the remaining episodes on DailyMotion.com . I am proud to say that as of last night I am caught up and wish I didn't have to wait 9 months for the rest! So is life.
Even worse is they left SO MANY cliffhangers.
Elie, it's a good thing that I've never been interested in gangster shows. A two-year break would drive me nuts!
Mark/PT, indeed, this past season was even weirder than the previous two. What's with the president's on-again-off-again illness? And where did those four new Cylons on board come from, all of a sudden? Where on earth (so to speak) are the writers going with this plot?
Tamara, cliff-hangers are the bane of my existence as a TV viewer. Hate 'em!
